Must we ask God

Definitely yes. If you don’t ask God for your needs, he wouldn’t

give you and then you will easily give up on him. So in order not

to give up on him, you must definitely ask him through the method

of communication with Abba father i.e ‘prayer’.

*The need:

Some people say there is no need asking God for anything

because he already knows what we want. Smh! God definitely

knows what you want but he wants you to ask. That’s just how God

is and we must learn to accept it or we are doomed. We are

familiar with the verse (Matt 7:7) right? It clearly says that ask and

it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock the door

and it shall be opened onto you. Now permit me to break all this

ask-seek-knock theory. ‘Ask’ means that we should literally ask

God for whatever we need in life. ‘Seek’ means that after asking

God of that thing, we should seek the answer. Of course, this is

usually accompanied with prayer or prayer and fasting so that we

can communicate with God in the spirit realm.

As earlier mentioned, God’s answer is often yes, no, or wait. So

after seeking the answer, we must praise him and thank him with

faith regardless of the decision made by him. 'Knock' means we

should ask again while thanking him and believing in him. 'Knock’

also means that we should confirm that it is God we are asking

from. When you knock someone’s room door, the main reason for

knocking is to confirm if it is the room owner that is in there right?

In the same way, when you are knocking at God’s door in prayer,

you wish to confirm if it is God the father you are communicating

to. In a nutshell, we ask, seek and knock when requesting the

father to please do something for us. Technically speaking, Jesus

took care of all these problems more than 2000 years ago when he

died on the cross and said “it is finished” (Jn 19:30). Therefore,

under normal circumstances, we ought to praise God and thank

him. Praise God and thank him. Praise God and thank him. Let me

say it one more time. Praise God and thank him. It is finished and

done. All your needs are taken care of. The moment you sincerely

accepted Jesus in your heart, you accepted full prosperity and

success in life. Therefore there is no need to give up because God

knows what he is doing. When you sincerely ask God for

something, just believe he heard you and it will be taken care of.

So the next time you bring up the issue, just praise him and thank

him in advance for already supplying you with that need. This is

called “declaration”. Don’t go saying to yourself “O my God, I

didn’t pray or fast enough. I need to pray for an extra hour or I

need to pray more” Nope. This is called ‘worry’ and worry is an

effect of fear. When you do that, you start doubting God’s love for

you.

*A friendly encounter:

I once had a chat with a friend and she told me that good men

were really hard to find and she didn't know what to do anymore.

She said she was very unfortunate when it came to finding a good

man as a partner or husband. I asked her if she believed in God and

she immediately answered “yes, sure”. So I told her to hold my

hands let’s ask God to send her a good man. Can you imagine what

she asked me? She said “does that thing really work?”  I was like

“excuse me. I just asked you if you believe in God and you said

yes. And now you are asking if that works. So you don’t believe in

God after all”. End of short story! My dear friends, we say things

all the time just for the purpose of saying. We need to dig deeper

into our hearts and not only depend on human knowledge. We

need to discover the real Jesus. Doubting whether Jesus can solve

our problems is simply not believing in God the father, God the

son, and God the HolySpirit. It is either you believe in God or you

don't believe in God. There is no half this and half that. Let us get

real and stop deceiving ourselves that we believe in God because

the truth is, only about 30% of christians truly believe in God in

today's world. God knows the heart, so we can't deceive any body

by merely saying that we believe in God when we really don't.

Saying that you believe is one thing, actually believing from the

bottom of your heart is another thing. The bible clearly says "not

everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of

heaven…."(Matt 7:21). What this verse is saying is that it is not

every Tom, Dick, and Harry who calls God Lord that will go to

heaven. If you call him Lord, without actually believing in him,

you won't inherit his kingdom. Even satan knows that God is Lord

but he will never go to heaven because he has rejected God in his

heart. You must be aware that satan knows the bible very well and

can quote all scriptures in it and use it against us. So, like I said

before, knowing the bible is one thing. Getting spiritual

revelation(Jesus' love) out of the bible is another thing. Therefore,

we must read the bible at all times, ask for spiritual revelation

from God, and believe in God's words.

*What to do when in trouble:

The question we need to ask ourselves is "where do we go to

when we are in trouble"? or "what do we do when we are faced

with a serious problem"? Let me break this into different

examples:  you robbed a bank and you still feel really bad about

or fornication or adultery but you are still not able to,  you

blackmailed someone and the person was sent to jail, you are

suffering from alcohol and drug abuse addiction, you scammed a

business client and made millions of dollars in the process, you are

trying so hard not to lie or cheat on your spouse, you are suffering

from inferiority complex and feel like committing suicide at all

times, you are so generous and people take your kindness for

granted, you hate yourself so much and wish you were never born,

you feel like a failure, your children stress you out and you feel so

depressed, you are suffering from a terminal disease or

sickness(e.g cancer, aids), you murdered one, two or ore people

and feel really bad about it, you are a drug dealer or drug addict,

you are always sad and annoyed, you didn't accomplish your life

goals at your age and you feel really depressed; etc etc. The list

goes on and on but one of you reading this would definitely be in

one of the above categories. The question still stands "what should

you do"?

First, the obvious thing is not to give up. Jesus is full of hope,

love, and joy; and wouldn't want any of his people to give up. Let

me make something crystal clear: God can forgive anybody; I

mean anybody. That is how much God loves us. Regardless of

what bad thing you have done, Jesus(God the son) is still willing to

forgive you. All you have to do is to come to him in prayer and

surrender your heart to him. Ask him to help you and he will

transform you. The transformation process doesn't just happen

overnight; it will take a while and you will be amazed.  Don't try to

change yourself, come to Jesus and he will change you. The

tendency is that when you try so hard by your self will, you keep

doing the same mistakes and then end up giving up. But if you let

the holy spirit(God's spirit) to take charge, you will be amazed.

The holy spirit empowers you naturally to do good.  When you are

faced with a serious problem such as one of the above mentioned,

don't run away from God; instead run to God. God does not

condemn anyone; he is instead your source of joy. Present your

problem to God and sincerely say "Father, I know you are hearing

me right now. Please help me to get rid of this problem. I know

you can and I trust in you, in Jesus' name I pray, Amen". The

moment you say that from the bottom of your heart, God has

already started performing his miracle in your life.

Let us take a look at our present day situation. Let us assume a

father loves his son so much and the father would do anything for

his son to be happy. If the son is in trouble or has done something

bad, will he honestly run away from his father for fear of

condemnation? Will the son escape from the father's house

because he thinks that the father will punish him? My guess is 'no'.

Any son in his right mind, who understands how much the father

loves him would run to daddy when in any trouble, right? In the

same way, if we understand that God loved us so much by

sacrificing his only begotten son(Jesus) for us, then we should

understand that he will never condemn us; but would rather help

us. We all know that God loved us so much that he sacrificed his

only begotten son for our sake, right?(see Jn 3:16). Now, why

would a man sacrifice his son if he didn't love us so much? Think

about it. Why would a man do that and then condemn us again?

God is full of love and mercy, not condemnation. That explains

why God's word is called 'Good news' not 'condemnation news'.  So

if you are suffering from drug or alcohol addiction, or from anger

and depression, present your problem to him and sincerely ask him

to help you. God is willing to help only if we allow him to. Recall

that God doesn't force anyone to come to him. The father is free

and if we are made in his image, we too are free. So God has given

us a freedom of choice but he is hoping that we would use our

freedom to choose him and not the devil. Therefore, I challenge

you not to give up on God because his grace(love and mercy) is

more than sufficient.

*The adulterous woman:

Let me use a good example is the bible to explain to you that

God does not condemn but rather loves and forgives. In Jn 8:2-11

we learn of a woman who committed adultery and was caught.

Now, God's law commanded that this woman be stoned to death.

So the teachers of the law and the pharisees brought this woman to

Jesus to see whether Jesus will follow the law. First of all, Jesus

was the only holy man among all of them because he had never

sinned or done any wrong thing. Therefore, Jesus was the only

person qualified to judge this woman by stoning her to death but he

chose not to.  Jesus, so full of grace(love and mercy) decided not to

follow the law. The pharisees asked him "the law of Moses

commanded us to stone such women, now what do you say?" He

responded with a very intelligent statement which was "…let

anyone of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at

her"(Jn 8:7). They all felt guilty and threw their stones away. Jesus

walked up to the woman and asked "woman, where are they. Has

no one condemned you"? And she responded "no one sir''. Then

Jesus said "neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more"(Jn

8:11).

As you can see, Jesus(God the son) does not condemn any

one. Why then should we condemn ourselves and run away from

him? So, when in trouble, we should ask God for help.  When you

find yourself in a serious mess, come to Jesus and he would tell

you something similar to what he he told this woman "neither do I

condemn you, go and sin no more". This implies that Jesus does

not condemn anyone but forgives easily and helps us out of trouble

with an inexplicable supernatural power.  That is the God we

serve; the God of love and mercy. Therefore, please do not give up

for your heavenly father still cares about you.
